Hurricanes…

Posted in Complaining with tags , on September 18, 2008 by yohandy

I hope these things stop happening all together, but I have a feeling they wont, so right now I think that the best thing that could be done about hurricanes has to do with the graphics used to present them.

They look too much like Tie-Dye shirt patterns to me.

For real right?

A Bad Day for Utah

Posted in Art with tags , , , , on August 21, 2008 by yohandy
Apparently, UTAH, one of New York City’s prominent graffiti writers, and arguably the most prominent female graffiti writer in the United States was arrested Tuesday night in Chicago at the airport upon returning from a 3 month long graffiti tour of 10 European Countries.
This is bad news for Utah, She and her boyfriend who tags “Ether,” are facing criminal prosecution in New York City for an estimated $100,000 in damages to city transit stations. The Country of France, and possibly many cities, both American and international are likely to seek prosecution for graffiti vandalism as well.
Being from Utah, I noticed her tag almost immediately in New York City because it seemed to be on nearly every block, tagged doorway, bathroom stall, phone booth and moving trucks, basically anywhere that there was graffiti there was a Utah tag.

There is an article about her arrest from Newsday.com and Gothamist. Also check out My “Graffiti By Utah.” and a previous post I did a few months ago about her work. I wish her the best of luck in the defense of her prosecution, and am personally saddened to see her streak come to an end, all I can say is STAY UP UTAH!

Americans Love Celebrities…Vote Paris!

Posted in Journalism with tags , , , , , , on August 6, 2008 by yohandy

I am so excited my girl Paris Hilton AKA my definition of American Royalty is back in action, back in the spotlight and this time running for President of the United States. I am definitely going to write her in when I cast my ballot in November. It seems John McCain is so detached from reality that he didn’t even know that Americans love celebrities. America invented celebrities and look at Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Regan, both are celebrities turned politicians.

So here is the ad that put the nail in the coffin for McCain. Doesn’t he know that everyone who knows who Obama is, also knows who he is? I don’t think Obama is any more of a celebrity than McCain at all, he is just a lot cooler and and less old and creepy looking.

And my girl’s response, running back flips on McCain, loungin’ poolside in Beverly Hills, oh yeah Paris I want you to be president so bad. No Joke.

I am not sure if I am liking Rhianna as the running mate, I think she will have to many people under her Umbrella-ella-ella-A. I would like to see Young Jeezy because I think what this country really needs in some Thug Motivation in the Oval Office.

On a second note regarding major political issues, last weekend I attempted to fulfill one of my goals for 2008…To see a glacier, so I went to Glacier National Park in Montana. I didn’t see a glacier up close, but I was told that a top of a mountain in the distance had a glacier on it, anyway there was still snow on the ground and it was cold in August, but global warming is going to have this place look like a beach in the South Pacific in a matter of years and I think McCain wants to drill for oil there, or at least turn the park into a mountain goat petting zoo.

Oh and last but not least, my friend Farai Simoyi is steady doing in big in Brooklyn and was featured in this article for Undiscovered Magazine, with the photos by none other than yours truly.

Drive it like it’s Stolen!

I absolutely love stuff like this video of stolen cars driving wild in the streets of Newark, I had it posted on here, but the owner of the video disabled the option for it to be embedded on my blog, so much for people who steal other people’s cars, they won’t even let you post their videos, regardless I want to go joyriding now.

I had the privilege of spending the afternoon and shooting in some great locations around Salt Lake City with one of Salt Lake’s hottest groups, Scenic Byway.

At your front door, all suited up, ready to rock.

Parking Garages nearly always make a good location

My friend Covey made this awesome illustration from a photograph of me and his famous “Thank You Bag,” Print. He makes T-shirts and other items with the world famous “Thank You” from the plastic shopping bag on them. These bags are everywhere, I found this one today just chillin’ and millin’ around a parking lot.

Check out the myspace page for more information right now, I will be adding more info about this project and Covey’s shirts in the future…Get on the wave now, everyone is going to have one of these shirts, be one of the first.

My friend Mitch sent me these pictures of an awesome couple on their home made junk bike the other day, I really like them and am going to keep posting crazy pictures people send me.

I wish everyone, or at least more people got around on things they made like Mad Max style. I love stuff like this.

I love the stage seating, I love just about everything about this junk bike.
